There’s a lot of noise out there for teens–social media, silly videos, the latest trends—and most of it won’t be remembered a year from now. That noise is not going to help teens prepare for their future—get into a good college, find a scholarship, obtain a winner resume. Parents and teens can find it daunting to locate training in leadership, communication, and teamwork skills—those so-called soft skills that colleges and employers crave.
We know parents want the best for their children, and we know that students have big dreams. Dreams that require ambition, perseverance, and a positive attitude. We also know that sometimes they need someone they can count on to help get them there. Monarch developed The Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program 12 years ago to allow determined young people an opportunity to grow the skills that will help them build those big dreams, accomplish those stunning goals, and overcome the traps and obstacles that get in the way of a stellar future!
All in. A simple phrase. We want you to succeed. This will require both a dedicated student and a dedicated parent. We ask for parents’ full support when your child applies for this program. This will include reliable transportation, consistent communication, encouraging participation, and a complete commitment to your child’s success.
Students will:
Classroom and On-the-job leadership training in select job assignments. Classroom sessions are scheduled on Saturdays for 90 minutes. Classes will be predominantly based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. There are 13 required sessions per year.
On-the-job training takes place in grocery stores or retail environments. Over 3 years, they’ll go from being a team member to becoming a TEAM LEADER. In real work environments, they’ll experience leadership situations and challenges firsthand, and they’ll learn to manage a team with confidence, creative solutions and team work.
